Why hello!

I just got back from a trip to see my husband. We drove from Connecticut all the way down to Georgia. VERY long drive but it was worth it!
.
We are very tired and I have a ton of things that I need to get done before my hubs returns home. So I will be back later with pictures and awesomeness from our trip!

Maybe you can help....

This has been an ongoing argument between Justin and I.
.
I think Queen is perfectly fine music to be played at my funeral (morbid I know, but plans my friend!)
.
He does not.
.
If you don't understand why Bicycle is being played at my funeral, then you don't know me and you shouldn't be there.
.
He also doesn't think David Bowie is acceptable. Who is this man, and why did I marry him?!

E-mail to my husband....

I want to kick stupid dog 3 houses down that barks at 5 am. Also thinking about rat traps. Suggestions?

First floor smells like bleach and lemon (strange combo), makes you dizzy if door is not open while scrubbing.

Mini pink vacuum works great for unwanted spiders....you can empty it when you get home.

Dog puke stinks and cat hairballs are no fun.

Want to come home yet?

Bitterly yours,
KK

Ode to the East

Today was such a fun day.

Landon, Nikki and I all went out to lunch and to a movie. While waiting for the movie we went to the Old Mystic Village to feed the ducks then drove downtown to see all the sailboats on the waterfront.

It's times like today where I really love living on the East Coast. I've lived on this side for almost four years now. It's hard to think that we have moved so much in such a short time. I miss South Carolina and New York everyday, and I'm sure I will miss Connecticut once we leave. But today I loved everything about New England. The houses are amazing, the waterfront is to die for and the weather for the most part is nice. I feel so lucky to get to see and live in all of these amazing places. I never thought little ol' me from a little Island in Washington would be living two hours from NYC!

On to the movie. G Force wasn't nearly as bad as I expected it to be. It was good. We laughed a lot. It wasn't a kiddie movie but more of a family one. Landon loved it and watched the whole thing!

Now Lan is crashed on the couch because I have yet to pack him up two flights of stairs.

Off to bed we go.

Sleep....I NEED YOU!

I got to talk to my husband again! This time I got to talk to him more. We talked until almost 1 am last night and he called again at 7 this morning. My lack of sleep is killing me, but it was worth it. I miss him so much. We now have an idea on when he will be coming home and that makes things sooo much easier.

Landon was so excited to talk to his dad. He told him about everything we have been doing. It breaks my heart to see that little boy so sad. They are best friends and it's hard on both of them when they are apart.

I'm off to rest on the couch for a little bit.

I have so much I want to get done before my husband comes home. I just need the energy to do it.

I wish I could quit you, Olive Garden.

My Friend Des and I went out to dinner and a movie two nights ago. We love Olive Garden. We were surprised we didn't have to wait at all since it was Friday night. But we got right in and ate.

After we went over to target and looked around. Our quest for shiny pants was unsuccessful. I did end up finding a few new books so that's always a plus.

Then we went to the movies. We saw The Time Travelers Wife. It wasn't bad but it wasn't amazing. I was really thinking that it was going to be great. A little disappointed, I must say. A friend and I are taking Landon to see G Force this week (he's been talking about it for days!) so I hope that one is good. I'm sick of going to the movies to see duds!

(Subject Quote from Jen Lancasters "Such a Pretty Fat". If you haven't read her books....go now and buy them!)

Show us your life. Vacations.

Head on over to Kellys blog to see who else is showing off their vacations!

My favorite Vacations.

Bahrain
.
I flew to Bahrain to see my husband (He was deployed and was in port for a little over a week). Now the place wasn't AMAZING but it was fun, different and I hadn't seen my husband in months!

My friend Stephanie and I flew out to Bahrain from NYC. It took us 13 hours to get to Dubai where we caught our next (1 hour) flight to Bahrain.

It was hot. REALLY hot. It was October but it felt like mid august in the South.

We got our bags and headed to the hotel. Once we got there we got settled and went to go eat. When we got back from eating we checked our e-mail to discover that the boys were already there! We waited all night. I got woke up by Justin banging on my door.

We spent the rest of the week exploring the Island.

Justin and I at the Tree Of Life. No other plant life for miles...then this massive green tree.
Stephanie, Jimmy, Justin and I at the Tree Of Life.
.
The we looked over and saw a herd of Camels! We walked down and the guy was so nice. He let us pet and ride on them. They were sooo big! I loved it!

This was the most memorable trip we have ever taken. It had been months since I had seen him and I knew leaving him that it would be months before I saw him again. Whenever given the chance I will fly to go see him in port.
.
I never thought I would go to the Middle East for any reason. Crazy what you do for love.

Niagara Falls
.
My Husband is a good sport. He puts up with all of the random ideas that I get. I really wanted to go to the Falls before we moved from the East Coast. We had a great chance to do it over a 4 day weekend. So we did. We had so much fun. It was really cold, but worth it. The hotel package we got gave us free tickets to the butterfly conservatory, the Niagara sky wheel, the tunnels under the falls and a free movie in our room and a pizza delivered right to us!

This is us on the drive and in our hotel room. It was a VERY long drive.
Every new place we go we check to see if they have a Hard Rock Cafe and the Rainforest Cafe if they do, we go. Niagara had both!
If you ever get a chance to go, go to the Butterfly Conservatory. It was beautiful! It had tons of butterflies and the plants and flowers were amazing. It was so much better then I expected. I think it was almost the best attraction to do besides the falls.
The Sky wheel was great! I was told to do it at night because it was so beautiful with the lights. We went up and boy were they right! The lights they use turn the falls all different colors. I think it would be nice during the day, but at night it will take your breath away.

The Falls! Wow. I have seen falls before and even swam under a few back home in Washington. But I have never seen any like this. They were huge.....(well duh, Kim) and so loud. We went during the winter months so most of the falls still had ice all over them.

.

I would recommend the Niagara Falls to anyone! But I would go on the off season, check different packages and get the most for your money.

.

These are just 2 of the amazing places we have been in the past few years. Check the left side of my blog to see the whole list of places we have been since 2006!

It rings!

He called!
.
I have never been so happy to hear his ring tone on my phone. They pulled into port for a very short time and he came up and called me. It was so amazing getting to talk to him. We talked about all the things I have been doing and how sad I have been. He's so reassuring when I'm sad. He just tells me over and over that he loves me and he wants to be with me just as bad as I want to be with him. We laughed when we talked about Landon and cried when we had to say goodbye. He makes everything better no matter how far he is from me.
.
He also sent me a picture of his dirty mustache.
Hahaha I will post a picture of it later.
I told him that he's not aloud to come home with it, but he hates it so I don't think I have to worry. He only has it because his chief told him that if he shaves it before they get home he won't give him liberty. Gotta love sub life.

Wow

Russian Subs Patrolling Off US Coast

WASHINGTON (Aug. 5) - Two nuclear-powered Russian attack submarines have been patrolling in international waters off the East Coast for several days, in activity reminiscent of the Cold War, defense officials said Tuesday.

In Moscow, a top Russian general says two nuclear-powered Russian attack submarines that have been spotted off the U.S. East Coast are part of regular patrols.
Anatoly Nogovitsyn, the deputy chief of staff of Russia's armed forces, said the patrols are not newsworthy. Nogovitsyn said Russia resumed the submarine patrols after restarting strategic bomber patrol flights in 2007

U.S. Northern Command would not comment on the Russian submarines' movement. But in a prepared statement, Northern Command spokesman Michael Kucharek acknowledged the patrols and said the U.S. has been monitoring the two submarines.

Alexander Zemlianichenko, AP
Russian Gen. Anatoly Nogovitsyn, seen speaking to the media in Moscow on Wednesday, said the submarine patrols were "a normal thing."

Two senior U.S. officials, however, said the submarines had been patrolling several hundred miles off the coast and so far had done nothing to provoke U.S. military concerns. The officials provided details on condition of anonymity in order to discuss intelligence reports.
While the incident raises eyebrows, it did not trigger the more intense reaction by the U.S. military that Russia prompted when two of its bombers buzzed an American aircraft carrier in the western Pacific in February 2008. U.S. fighter planes intercepted the two Russian fighters, including one that flew directly over the USS Nimitz twice at an altitude of about 2,000 feet.
The event did not escalate beyond that, but it signaled a more aggressive military agenda by Moscow.

The latest incident, which was first reported by The New York Times, comes amid increased Russian military activity in the region, and as the Obama administration works to thaw tense relations with Moscow over plans for a missile defense system in Central Europe.
Just last week a senior Pentagon official said the administration is looking at options for the plan, which would install 10 interceptors in Poland and a radar system in the Czech Republic. Assistant Secretary of Defense Alexander Vershbow told Congress members that the Obama administration is looking at various configurations as part of its review of missile defense plans.
Russia, meanwhile, conducted naval exercises with Venezuela last year in the Caribbean and sent one of its warships through the Panama Canal for the first time since World War II. The exercises with Venezuela were the first deployment of Russian ships to the Western Hemisphere since the Cold War.

Officials said they became aware of the most recent submarine activity off the East Coast early on through intelligence sources and were not notified by Moscow in advance of the patrols. They said the submarines have not crossed into U.S. waters, which extend 12 miles out into the ocean.
The statement issued by Northern Command and the North American Aerospace Defense Command said, "We have been monitoring them during transit and recognize the right of all nations to exercise freedom of navigation in international waters according to international law."

Please keep everyone in their prayers and pray for my husbands safe return as he is out in that water somewhere.

Bright Lights, Big Ass

I LOVE Jen Lancaster's books. I find myself laughing so hard when I'm reading them, and right now I need a good laugh. She says what I think. Last night I was reading in bed and I laughed so hard I woke Landon up. Really great book! Her first one is Bitter is the New Black and it was just as funny. I hope her next one is just as good.

Up Next!

to weep or not to weep

I never thought the word Weepy would be used to describe me.
But oh boy am I.
I cry. About everything!
.
All I can say is that I just want to know when he's going to be home. I don't care how long it is, just tell me a day. I hate this not knowing crap. And I hate that we didn't get enough time to say goodbye.
.
Time to put my big girl panties on and deal with it.
Self-pitty is a lonely world.

Dear....

Obnoxious neighbor with the barking dog(s),

I understand sometimes you need to put your dogs out early in the morning. I understand this because I to have a dog that likes to whine at 6 am so he can take his morning piss. BUT if you let your dogs bark for 2 hours at 5 am. One. More. Time. I swear I will either call animal control or I will walk my sorry ass over there and bang on your door until you bring them in.

Do you remember that we live in Military housing? That all our houses are connected? And that the master bedroom is on the backside of the house? Did you read your handbook when you moved in? You know, the one that says that you can't tether your dog outside and all noise should be kept to a minimum? No I don't think you did.

Next time my dog slips past me at the back door and mauls your barking dog (that is chained to your porch) I will not apologise. I will tell you to bring your dog in and it would never have happened.

Signed,
The chick who likes to sleep in!
