Halloween Cookies

Landon and I made cookies and watched a movie together last night. We watched "Casper meets Wendy" It was crazy seeing Hilary Duff so young and uncorrupted. Lol. Our cookies aren't the best looking things in the world but we had so much fun making them.
,
Tomorrow we are carving pumpkins with Daddy, making pumpkin seeds and going Trick-or-treating with a few friends of ours. I will do my best to take pictures.

Everything laid out ready to go.
Getting ready to bake them.
The ugliness that is our cookies.
My monster cookie!
Landon's monster cookie.
My spider web cookie that Landon REALLY wants to eat.
Most of the ones we finished.
The dentist is going to love us!
I love doing special things like this with him. I try to do one thing a week that is out of the norm. Crafts, baking and movie/game nights seem to be the things that we do the most.
.
I hope everyone has a safe and happy Halloween!

Pictures!

Landon got his school pictures back yesterday. I don't love them but I sure don't hate them. He cracks me up. His eyes look brown here but they are really an amazing green/hazel color (I love it!) and I think his nose it making the transition into looking just like Justin's, I'm a little sad since hes had my nose since day one, but I guess Justin's nose changed as he got older into what it is now (I love everything about my husband, but I would like my children to have my nose).

Cute right?!

Thursday Review! Halloween Edition!

I love Halloween. Just for the fact that I love fall and the changing of season. I love decorating the house with pumpkins and such and doing all the fun crafts and baking that come along with it! So today is a review of all the kids books and movies we have been watching this month!
.
*Movies*
.
Pooh's Heffalump Halloween Movie!
I love this movie! It's so cute. I'm a fan of anything pooh and we really love lumpy so I was so excited when we found this movie last year.
.
Here is what Amazon says about it.
.
Halloween can be a frightening time of year for piglets and young Heffalumps, but the power of unconditional friendship should never be underestimated. When a fierce "Gobloon" and an absence of candy threaten to ruin Lumpy's first trick-or-treating experience, Roo and Lumpy set out to capture the Gobloon and save Halloween. As the scared pair journeys toward the tree of terror, the pair reflects on Piglet's mastery of his fear of Halloween and begins to realize that togetherness empowers them. Perhaps true friendship can triumph over an evil Gobloon--even if the Gobloon does have the power to turn its pursuers into "jaggedy lanterns." But, what will happen when Roo and Lumpy become separated?
.
Mickey's Treat
This is another favorite (ok all the ones I have up are favorite...hence when I put them up). Landon loved Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and watches this movie all year.
.
Here is what Amazon says about it.
.
Mickey Mouse and his pals Minnie, Donald, Daisy, Pluto, Goofy, and Pete invite toddlers and preschoolers to join them in Mickey's clubhouse for some playtime fun and adventure that emphasizes teamwork and aides in the development of logic and math skills. In "Mickey's Treat," Mickey and his pals are dressing up in costumes to attend Big Pete's Halloween party--the only catch is they have to make their way along a candy corn path and through the foggy woods to get to the tower before the moon is full. Only by working together and using the appropriate "mousketools" can the group make it to Pete's party on time. "Goofy the Great" finds magician Goofy desperately in need of some practice before a big magic show. Luckily, he can count on Mickey and his friends for lots of encouragement and some counting and patterning help. In "Doctor Daisy, M.D.," Daisy works toward earning her pretend doctor sticker by seeing an office full of willing patients and curing their ills with a little help from her friends and some handy mousketools
.
It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown
An old classic. We have the book and the movie. I love, love, love Peanuts!
..
Here is what Amazon says about it.
.
Charlie Brown gets rocks in his trick-or-treat bag, Linus awaits a visitation from the Great Pumpkin in his terribly sincere pumpkin patch (while the adoring little Sally sits tight with him), Snoopy falls asleep, Lucy harasses Schroeder, and Pig-Pen kicks up a dust storm even beneath his costume
.
Hocus Pocus!

I love this movie and I'm surprised that Landon enjoyed it as much as I do.
.
Here is what Amazon has to say about it. (more of a review then anything else, but I thought it was funny)
.
This big, fat theatrical bomb has a lot going for it. There's the three leads, Bette Midler, Kathy Najimy, and Sarah Jessica Parker, playing three resurrected witches who wreak havoc on Salem, Massachusetts, 300 hundred years after they were hung. There's music, special effects, and magic. There's a surprisingly horror-filled plot. Whoops, hold up on that last one. It's probably the extremes that this film goes to (displaying a Disney label), such as the witches sucking the life out of a little girl in the first five minutes, that put the brakes on any success for Hocus Pocus. Older children, however, in the 8 and up range should get a kick out of all the weird goings-on. It's a good measure of Halloween thrills and chills.
*Books!*

Where's my Mummy?

This is my new favorite book to read. Landon picked it from his first book order and we are hooked!
.
Here is what Amazon has to say about it
.
Little Baby Mummy does not want to go to bed. Demanding one more game of "Hide and Shriek," he runs outside to conceal himself in the graveyard, but Mama Mummy doesn't join him. Like the young bird in P. D. Eastman's Are You My Mother? (Random, 1960), he sets off to find her, heading into "the deep, dark woods, the spookery woods" and encountering several creepy creatures: "Clank clink clank/Woo boo woo/Clank clink cloo/'Mama Mummy, is that you?'/But out of the woods clanked—/Bones!" This skeleton, as well as a blob and a vampire—all making their nighttime preparations—greet the mummy and tell him to go to bed. The only time the youngster is truly frightened—by a mouse—his mother is there to comfort him, take him home, and tuck him into bed.
.
There was an old monster
This is a really cute book with a twist from the original story. It has the most AMAZING illustrations. The colors are so vivid and bright.
.
Here is what Amazon has to say about it.
.
There was an old monster who swallowed a tick
I don't know why he swallowed that tick
'Cause it made him feel sick!
When he swallowed some ants, he danced in his pants. He swallowed a lizard, a bat, a jackal, and a bear. Then he tried to swallow a lion . . . ROAR!--Now that monster is no more! Children will laugh along with the funny text, bright bold illustrations.
.
T.Rex Trick or Treat

Really cute book. Landon loved Dino's and this one is easy to love.

Here is what Amazon has to say about it

It is Halloween night, and T. Rex cannot decide what to wear. All of his pals have taken the best and scariest costumes–ghost, witch, skeleton. He wants to be really scary, and when his friends' suggestions result in a Very Big Frown, T. Rex is convinced that he is frightening enough as is.

Hello!

I might not be posting much the next few days due to Hubs sub (hehehe) pulling in this morning. We have a ton of things planned to do and not enough time to do it all. Seeing him this morning was amazing. Time flew by this time with Landon being in school and me helping D with the baby (which I got to take pictures when Daddy met his baby for the first time today. AMAZING!) Justin will be home tomorrow after work then I think we are off to dinner.
.
I have a few recipes and crafts that I hope to get up this week so maybe I will schedule posts for a few days.
.
I hope everyone is doing great! I will try to get around and so my blog reading when the boys are sleeping.

Konrad!

Here are the pictures! Daddy was able to call from the boat and say hello, so that was amazing! Mom and baby are still doing amazing!

Landon is so in love! He claims that he is the big brother.
He's so perfect!

TIRED!

I've been at the hospital with my friend since yesterday being "daddy" while she had her baby (due to our husbands being out to sea). Things were going great, then turned not so great and I ended up holder her hand while she had an emergency C-section. Baby's heart didn't want to stay pumping for a little bit. C-section went quick and everything went great. Both mommy and baby are doing absolutely amazing now. I got the pleasure to hold baby while mom was getting fixed up and it was so special to me. I took as many pictures as I could for the daddy and I will be there to help her (in her house) until the boys get back.

Oh yes we are.....

Just crazy enough to do this!

Every year we get pajamas. It started with Justin and I way back when we were 15. Now we still do it with each other and Landon! This year we are going to match! And we are going to wear them on the train (If I can talk Justin into it, that is).

I really hate....

Reading people's blogs and they have tons of swearing in them. I get it here or there. But every post? I'm sure you can use better words then the f and/or C word to tell people how you feel.

Find a better way to express yourself.

(I'm not going to make a habbit out of writting posts like this. I swear! Lol)

What we are doing.....*EDIT*

Before we leave the East Coast I have a ton of things I want to do. Two of them are going to be happening next month!
.
First is the Polar Express train ride! You take a 90 min train ride while drinking hot cocoa and eating sugar cookie. They read the story "Polar Express" and Santa comes to say hello. I'm so excited to do this with Landon. Since Justin was gone last Christmas this will be a fun thing to make up for it. So look for pictures of us decked out in our PJ's on the train!

AND THEN!!!!

We are going to the Macy's Day Parade in NYC. I never thought I would have the chance to do this! I'm so excited! Here at the Base out ITT sells tickets for charter buses that will take us right into the city, drop us off then come back after everything is over. I really think this is a once in a lifetime thing and I'm so excited to go!

AND.....
.
As of right now we are going to an Eagles game after that! Now mind you all of these things are within a two week period! We are going to be so busy, but it's going to be so worth it!

Early Shopper!

I bought Landon's big gift last week. It's always so hard to decide what we want to get him. When I was looking at somethings he happened to see this over my shoulder. HE FREAKED OUT! "That's just like where Daddy works! See they even have the beds and the Captain!" Then he asked if I would please write to Santa and ask if he would PLEASE bring that to him for Christmas. I'm so excited for him to get it!

These are the other gifts I have bought him so far.Playmobil Advent calendar. Each night he will get a new toy for the playmobil scene and on the last night it's Santa bringing food to all of the animals in the forest. Landon loves playmobil and I knew that I wanted to buy an advent calendar as well as make one this year (I will be putting up a tutorial in a few weeks on how to make your own)
Zoobie orangutan! I got this for our long trips/plane rides. It's a stuffed animal that turns into a pillow and a blanket. So now when we fly home we won't have to bring all three since this little guy is all three in one! You can get tons of different animals to!

UP! When this came out at the movies we went to see if right away. It was so cute! We laughed. We cried. Then we did a little cheering! One of the best kids movies out there right now and I know Landon will be so excited to get it.

Snow White. I got a great deal on this! They were doing a promo that you would get this movie for $10! It's a $40 movie!! I remember watching this when I was little and I hope Landon likes it to!

What should I read next?

I have a few other Jodi Picoult books also on the shelf to read. Please give me your input if you have read any of these books.

Thursday review!

Gosh I haven't done one of these in a while! I was stuck reading the same book for the past month! Not because it wasn't good, because it was but because I've been busy *cough* watching the whole series of Sex and the City*cough* don't judge me! I never watched it so I'm doing it all while my husband is gone to pass the time...and..I was talked into it. kinda.
.
OK so a few weeks ago Landon, D and I all went to see Cloudy with a chance of meatballs. Best. Kid movie. EVER! It was funny and cute and Landon was into it the whole time.
.
It's about a man who makes an invention that creates food and after a few incidents it ends up raining food. The monkey is so funny! He made the movie! Go see it! NOW!

I'm done! I finished it! Good book. I do agree with a friend of mine and will say that if you're not big into cooking then this might be a little boring for you since that's what it's all about. I'm sure the movie is far different but this is a lot of explaining of recipes and what it takes to make them. I love cooking so I loved the book!

I didn't go see the movie when it was out but I will be getting it as soon as it hits DVD.

One Year ago Today.....

Stephanie & I were landing in Bahrain to spend a little over a week with our men.
.
They had been deployed for 3 months and were pulling into a port...so we went. It was crazy. I never thought I would fly to the middle east. Ever. It was a trip that I will never forget. I will also never take a 14 hour flight again.
.
We got there on what we thought was the day before the boys, but after checking our e-mail we found out that they were pulling in the same day. We went out to eat then went back to our rooms to shower and wait. By 8 the boys weren't there so I went to bed. An hour later I heard a knock on my door. There he was. Justin with the biggest smile on his face standing at my door. I don't think I have ever hugged him like that. I felt like I was dreaming.
.
We spent the next 9 days mostly in our room talking. We went out and did a few fun things. We went to a movie (they sell fresh Carmel corn at the movie theater there!), went shopping, did laundry together, saw the Tree of Life, rode camels and found an amazing cafe called DOME that we LOVED!
.
The last morning we had together we laid in bed and watched the sun rise. Saying goodbye to him again was the hardest thing I have ever had to do.

Sitting in DOME waiting for our food. When the boat pulled back into Bahrain a month later Justin went here. He said it was hard being somewhere like that where I had been with him. But in a strange way it made him feel closer to me.

Meeting the Camels. It was so neat! They look and feel a lot like horses.

The Tree Of Life.

Fall fun!

Since Landon had Monday off D, Casey, Landon and I all went to an orchard to pick apples and such. Landon and I picked 2 bags full of all different kinds of apples and he had such a fun time doing it all by himself. After we picked apples we went on a hayride. It was pulled by two huge Clydesdale horses and Landon loved them (I think mostly because they were named Batman and Robin). The hayride took us down to the pumpkin patch and corn maze. We got a pumpkin for everyone in our little family (even hummee hotdog), then we went in the corn maze. It wasn't quite what I thought it was going to be but it was a lot of fun, you had to search the maze for mailboxes that had stamps in them. Landon loved it and had to be the leader at all times (except for that one time that I ran ahead of him and he ran after me crying....)

Landon and I going to pick apples.

Batman.
He's never pet a horse before, he's always been to afraid to.

2nd October School Project

Landon brought home a spider that we were to decorate to hang in the hall at school. In true Kim fashion I had to come up with an idea that would make it stand out. After having so much fun with the fall trees, we decided to do the same kind of thing with the spider. I got out the paint, we picked the colors and went at it!

Landon wanted to use purple, orange and black. I tried to talk him out of the black but it ended up making It look even better!
Painting!
All done. Not the best picture but it turned out so cute!

Judgement. I has it.

I'm not a really nice person. Sure I can be nice but really under that smile I'm cringing. I accept this as do all of my friends (i love them all I swear! They just know not to ask me a question if they are afraid of the answer).

Right now my biggest gripe is little kids (or their parents) at Landon's school. Do the parents not think when they get their child dressed in the morning? I understand that not everyone dresses their child like I do (what can I say I'm picky!) but really? Last week while helping in Landon's class I saw a little boy wearing sponge bob jeans (THEY MAKE THOSE!?!?!) that were a size too small and a dirty old spider man shirt that was way too big. Maybe this boy dressed himself. Fine. But I would never let my kid go to school like that.

Then we have the green nose. The snotty green nose. I keep my kid home if he has a little cough. I would never let him go to school that sick. Now because that parent didn't care, other kids are going to have to stay home because yours got them sick. Take a day and keep them home. It's won't hurt you I swear!

I'm all for comfort. I don't wear amazing clothes. I can look nice when I want but for the most part I dress for comfort, running around with my son and doing crafts. I would never show up to pick my child up in some of the clothes I see. Why mothers want to dress like hoochy mommas is beyond me. Hi, I'm Kim and I don't like looking at your nipples. Thanks.

Back to cheesy craft posts tomorrow. I'm off to be judgy with my tea and book.

Fabulous Fall Foilage

Last night Landon and I had movie and craft night. It's a Friday night thing around here while Justin is gone. It helps us pass the time until he comes home. Anyway. We took a break from the Halloween crafts and made fall ones. It was a really fun night filled with paint, popcorn and a good movie!
.
What you need:
.
Paint (3-4 colors. We used yellow, orange, red and brown)
Kitchen sponge cut into smaller pieces (you can choose the size)
Card stock
Brown marker
tape (optional)
First draw a cloud shape on the top half of a piece of card stock. Then cut it out. Like shown below.
Next draw your tree trunk and branches.
Tape the first piece of card stock on top of another piece of card stock.

Then dip the sponges in the paint and go at it!

Remove top piece and you have a tree! (I know it's different colors then shown above but I didn't get a good picture of the other one.)
Landon painting his trees. We did sooo many!
This is about half that we did. It was such a fun project to do together. Now I just need to figure out where I want to put them!
.
Idea from family fun magazine!
